Release of our first album: Draeseke string quartets 1 & 2

We are very happy to announce that our first album has been released! It is a recording of the first two string quartets from the German romantic composer Felix Draeseke (1835-1913). This is the first CD of a project we embarked in with the label CPO in order to record his whole work for string quartet.

We want to thank specially Christoph Schlüren, Lavard Skou-Larsen, Stephan Reh, Joachim Wollenweber and everyone who helped us with their donations and advices. Without them this project would have not been possible!

“This is a wonderful CD. The level of understanding of this music evinced by the Constanze Quartet is simply breathtaking. I’ve said before and I’ll say again that I can’t see why these works aren’t in the standard repertoire. They’re intensely memorable and intensely felt – and their language is utterly unique.
Can’t wait for volume 2 and String Quartet No. 3″

“Wieder neue Quartett-Juwelen
Echt neue Quartett-Juwelen!”
